Strategic Plan 2008-2010

This Strategic Plan 2008-2010 is a document that has been drafted by Working Team, Team created with initiative of NGO DSK and which is based on the reports of the activities developed during last ten months of NGO DSK and two day workshop which has been facilitated by Dr. Branka Butorac, Director of Center Down Syndrome _DSC Pula, Croatia, and Ivica Butorac manager of DSC Pula.

During drafting of Strategic Plan 2008-2010, there were other premises involved, such as Board of Directors and Team of Experts of NGO DSK as well as needs and information that have been identified by Parent Support Group PSG .

Strategic Plan 2008-2010 has been initiated by NGO DSK, planned according to the project “Step 1” and supported by Kosovar Foundation for Open Society-KFOS.

Aiming to successfully implement Strategic Plan 2008-2010, NGO DSK has foreseen:

To become one of the most important contributor and reliable in protection of rights of people affected with Down Syndrome and their families, developing awareness activities, such as: increase of awareness for institutional support and advocate for integration in society.
To achieve a long term sustainability as national NGO, expanding services in entire country.

Activities implemented during 2007 and in the beginning of the 2008 have served as basis for establishing objectives of action plan drafted by Managing Board of NGO DSK in march 2007; DSK have identified few components such as building managing activities, knowledge and overall development of DSK staff as well as mobilisation of the community of people affected with Down Syndrome, raising level of information regarding Down Syndrome and creation of partnership. We will use this opportunity to thank all the partners, donors and those with whom we cooperate, especially volunteers who participate in almost all activities of DSK organizations.

Overall Strategic Objectives for 2008-2010

Strategic Objectives of NGO DSK for 2008-2010 clearly define where activities of the organization will be concentrated, in order to achieve aim of NGO DSK for “Equal access to all services offered by respective Institutions of the country” and reaching the mission which is “Increase a dignity for people affected with Down Syndrome and their family members”

Strategic objective I

Raising awareness of parents, family members, institutions and society in general for people affected with Down Syndrome.

Strategic Objective II

Creation of sustainable partnership and long term with central and local institutions and NGO’s who are dealing with individual with limited abilities in the country and abroad.

Strategic Objective III

Wide support of people with Down Syndrome; offering professional medical Services, inclusion in the early education system, primary and secondary education and offering of integrating work possibilities.

Strategic Objectives IV

Professional and financial support of Resource Center for individual with Down Syndrome, their family members, workers, professionals and volunteers for central and local domestic institutions, private business and potential donors.

Foreseen programs for 2008-2010

Four main fields will be focused in order to achieve objectives and foreseen activities for years 2008-2010

Education of parents; Trainings and lectures
Partnership and sustainability
Safe and full integration of people affected with Down Syndrome
Resource Centers for people affected with Down Syndrome.

Logic Planning of the Activities

Education of Parents; Trainings and lectures

Objective I	Raising awareness of parents, family members, institutions and society in general for people affected with Down Syndrome.
Proposed project 1	Information, Trainings, Lectures.Description: Information Media campaign (starting 2 weeks prior to the World Day of people with Down Syndrome-21 march 2008,2009,2010) Television debates organized with representatives coming from central and local government, experts in various fields and representatives from NGO. Supporting publishing of magazine (every three months) for people with Down Syndrome Publishing of flyers that will contain essential information Articles in daily newspapers and magazines. Beneficiaries: Parents of people with Down Syndrome, institutions and society in general
	Trainings Early intervention for young parents. Preparing children for school; parents and educators. Assistance and volunteers. Beneficiaries: People affected with Down Syndrome, Parents, educators, teachers and volunteers.
	Lecture Taking into consideration genetic, clinical, pediatric and educational aspect Beneficiaries: Individuals, Parents, Doctors, medical assistants and teachers.

Partnership and sustainability

Objective II	Creation of sustainable partnership and long term with central and local institutions and NGO’s who are dealing with individual with limited abilities in the country and abroad.
Proposed project	Cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. Support and participation in events organized in the country and abroad.
	Cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. Description: Agreement of cooperation. Participation in decision making processes that are of a concern for people affected with Down Syndrome, drafting legislation, developing strategies, projects in local and national levels that affect interests of people affected with Down Syndrome. Beneficiaries: Decision-making institutions, Government of the Republic of Kosova, NGO’s and society in general
	Support and participation in events organized in the country and abroad Description Establishing contacts between NGO DSK and respective offices within Government of the Republic of Kosova. Participation in international events such as Congresses or different meetings for people affected with Down Syndrome. Offering possibility for financial support for participants in events organized abroad and to mark the international day for people affected with Down Syndrome, which is official date in most of the countries-21 March (Symbolizes the three copy of 21 chromosome- trisomy) Beneficiaries: Local institutions, NGO’s

Taking care of people affected with Down Syndrome and their integration in the society
